“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

We have been having a clear out and a tidy up! In the past few weeks the history of education in the UK over the past 20 years has passed across my desk. How I have loved it! How things have changed!!!

Hand-typed, black and white publications with pen drawn illustrations replaced with computer-generated, glossy colour publications. Large, chunky, desktop phones, typewriters evolving into personal computers, mobile phones shrinking before my eyes.

So much has changed. The tools we use to communicate have been transformed, society’s views and core beliefs have altered, what we teach and how we teach is subject to constant revision. So it is good to reflect on our verse from the writer to the Hebrews.

We worship a God who never changes, who transforms and redeems us through his power and love.

The tools we are using to communicate may have changed, the education world within which we work may be different, but the core message of the gospel remains constant, our God remains a constant strength, a tower of refuge for us in times of trouble, of change and of doubt.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

Christians have a vital, transforming role to play in education. As you start this new day, yet another day, do so in the strength of the knowledge that God in Christ Jesus is a constant in your life that you can draw upon. Your world may be changing but Jesus, the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, walks with you in the present and into the future.
